Standing resilient at the tip of the Southwest Coast of England, this light house has provided a beacon of hope, guidance, and safety for centuries of countless lives.
The simple, but pure aesthetic of the lighthouse gives an intense imagery of the feeling of solitude. We can empathize with it’s singularity as we’ve all gone through difficult times in our life and have always come out on top, once finding the light at the end of the tunnel.
The bench offset to the lower left reflects the emptiness one may feel in this time of trial and tribulation. The vastness of the sky above reminds us that we are never truly alone, and the double perspective of uphill depth and horizontal increase of the slope reminds us we must always look up in these times.
The greyscale of the monochrome plays on the irony that these situations are never truly black and white, and shaping our own perspective is imperative to create a vibrant life for ourselves.
